托福写作有哪些更高级的词汇?

  想必各位考托福的小主都知道,托福写作和口语的评分都是有E-rater参与的。对于写作而言,E-rater的一个评分要素就是词汇的使用,如果你的作文通篇都是很简单的小词,那么E-rater会认为你在词汇方面的能力是有些limited,可想而知,即便没有其他字数、语法、逻辑、切题等问题,你的整体分数也不会太高。

  那么怎样解决这个问题呢?其实,你不需要整篇文章都拔高一个层次,这在短时间内并不容易实现。你需要做的就是,把一些常用的低级词汇换成不那么常用的高级词汇,让这些高级词汇在文中如星星一般点缀其间,就足以给你的写作增光添彩啦。

  1. famous people : celebrities名人

  2. opinion:perspective / standpoint 观点

  eg:from a theoretical / political / economic standpoint

  3. complex:complicated / intricate 复杂的

  4. part : component 部分

  5. person : individual 人

  6. friends : companions 朋友

  7. enemy : opponent / foe 敌人

  8. narrow minds : insular minds 狭隘的头脑或观念

  9. boring : tedious 无聊的

  10. cold : chilly 寒冷的

  21. unbelievable : inconceivable 难以置信的

  eg:The president wants to explore every avenue towards peace in the region.
